Title: Looking for hooptie
Post by: Groovechild on December 16, 2011, 08:52:37 AM
Hey yous guys, looking for a decent stickshift car about 8-10 years old so I can save a little bit of loot on gas. My 4.7L 4Runner in fulltime AWD mode is burning $70 a week in gas. I have about $4K I can spend, which puts me into cars in the year 1999-2003 range. Have always been partial to Honda/Toyota/Subaru bc they seem to last (and tend to be more available with stick). Have a soft spot for the early 90s 300ZX, but not sure of their reliability. Anyone here (or their families) have success with old school cars that are still running?

Please post!

Dont know. For me, the little bit of money saved up front, will be spent in costly repairs as soon as the engine honey burns off.

Even in the best case, the granny owned, garage kept, driven only to church car - is still "an old car".

But, if your going to do it, the makes you listed are known for their longevity (when its varifiable they have been properly cared for). good luck
