Post by: butt on March 06, 2012, 05:03:46 PM
WOP, I love it  :P No offence to any Italian brethern out there.

From the makers of WOT (world of tanks) its a F2P game in the works.

Register at the site and sign up for the flight sim alpha. I registered and signed up. Might be a nice for a change of pace. The vid looks like fun

Finally got an email about the beta.

No key as of yet, but they sent an email saying my application for the alpha 'should' get me in the front of the line for the beta. Looks like fun. Hope a few of you other guys get signed up. Let me know if you do.

I just applied.
I've been trying out the DCS A-10C in the past couple of weeks and it's excellent.
It's a flight sim so has a large learning curve.
I'm running a thrustmaster A-10C warthog stick/throttle, saitek combat pedals, and trackir head tracking.  The trackir is a must have if doing flight sims these days.

The dcs world beta is available here:
It's the new platform that the A-10C and KA-50 is on. They will be doing additional aircraft in the near future (all of which are modern except for the p-51)

The beta includes one russian aircraft (SU-25)
The game is a sim and has excellent graphics.

Oops, Here:

Don't download the P-51 file, just the world.  Also use the US download selection. The german one tends to have errors.
Give it time also. The files are large.

Well...

5 months later I finally get a beta invite. Initial download is 3+G and going painfully slow.

Just received my invite as well..
how is it?

Sad to report I never fought through the tutorial.

To me its very hard to fly and line up targets. Got frustrated and never played it after that. Spiderpig says its not near as fun as world of tanks, for what its worth.

It might be a rated as a sim or have flight characteristics of a sim. If so it would explain the bigger learning curve. It also would require a decent flight stick and possibly rudder pedals to compete. Trackir is also a must for modern flight games.
