Title: I was wondering how to set up bf2 standalone server?
Post by: Balistics101 on July 09, 2010, 10:09:41 PM
It should be the same as a 2142 standalone but the problem is it wont let me join after its done loading.
I was gonna play with a friend at my house using 2 computers and I've done it before a while ago but I forgot how and its now becoming a challenge for me..
If you guys have any experience. with it

Do we need the same patch? and PB update

Thx.

Groove had an unranked 2142 server set up for a little while, about a year ago. He'd be the best one to answer that.

Just out of curiousity, why not just go pubbing w/ your friend?

I couldn't find anything regarding a dedicated server for BadCo2. There is a linux and Windows version for BF2142 (and BF2) but no love for BadCo2, except the partners. I think part of the reason might be how many problems and patches this games has had since it was released. Once that stabilizes, I would think they will release a local/dedicated server.

Ahhh..I knew it was a bad week to quit crack...
If you setup BF2 server, essentially you can just setup the defaults and then hit run and it should begin to listen (just set the minimum number of players to 1 to start).
Make sure the you turn off the Windows firewall on the machine that is hosting the server, at least during the time the server is active.
Whatever the IP of the server is (let's say 192.168.1.10), let the other machine connect to that address.
You can run the server in the background and connect to your own machine. Just use the same IP address (or localhost) when connecting.
Or were you looking for more granular settings?
