Alright our fearless leader remembered that I roast our coffee beans and has asked for some more information on the matter for whatever reason he has and this is it.
READ EVERYTHING BEFORE CLICKING ON LINKS PLZZZ.
http://samc.oracool.net/coffee.html (http://samc.oracool.net/coffee.html)
^This website is my dads and is rather straight forward one of the links does not work. The first link in it is probably the most important because it shows how a guy made his own coffee roaster with some parts and his BBQ.
As stated though in the past we did purchase a 120lb bag of GREEN coffee beans, it was about $1.60 / lb. split with 3 other guys it lasted a year. Unfortunately Heritage Coffee the place where he bought the bag has sold their US operation(link to their site in my dads site). My dad thinks he may be able to get another giant bag from their Canada operation. But there are many other places to purchase GREEN coffee beans from.

^This website is excellent. There is a video of how to roast your own coffee with a popcorn popper and u can buy GREEN coffee beans from them if you wish. They point out a few important things in this video. One being that the popcorn maker must have those slits in the sides rather than some other design. These slits help the beans to circulate and roast evenly. If there is one site you need to see it is this one first and watch that video at least the first 2 min and last min of it.
A modified Poppery 2 popcorn popper is what I use (picture here http://www.popcorncoffeeroaster.com/popcorn-poppers/ (http://www.popcorncoffeeroaster.com/popcorn-poppers/))
A few things to think about:
1) the type of coffee beans beans from different places will taste different (and cost differently too)
2) DO NOT overload your popcorn popper with more than a half cup of beans(bad stuff happens after that...)
3) how many watts your popcorn popper uses and how hot it gets.
4) safety
5) cooling the beans
6) the amazing smell of freshly roasted beans
7) consider buying a grinder if you do not have one already
8) maybe buy a decent espresso machine
This is the E-mail my dad sent me which i covered most of the stuff above but in case i missed any thing here this is:
Not sure if i can still buy from heritage coffee - http://www.heritage-coffee.com/GreenCoffeeBuyers.htm (http://www.heritage-coffee.com/GreenCoffeeBuyers.htm)
they sold their US operations, and i was buying green coffee from them but now they only sell roasted coffee.
recently we have gotten it locally at http://www.ccmcoffee.com/index.php?cPath=21 (http://www.ccmcoffee.com/index.php?cPath=21)
they go down to almost $3.20/lb on their web site, but when i last ordered a 120# bag, it was about $1.60 / lb. split with 3 other guys it lasted a year.
there has to be someplace in the US selling full bags. or Heritage canada might sell to me again now that their US spin-off co is no longer selling green.
Coffee is from a fruit from a coffee plant it starts out in a cherry form from which it is picked, pulped, fermented, dried, and then roasted before it looks anything like a coffee bean you buy in a store. Coffee plants grow well at high altitudes and in the warmer countries around the equator which is why south America is such a good place to grow coffee. So if you want at least some control of what you drink every morning roasting is the best way.
now comes the onslaught of questions from you guys...
