Hey all,
Just stopping by to say hi. I hope everyone has been doing well. Miss you guys. :P
Things are going well here.
Work is going well. Getting my first raise next month. It's a tad more than a 25% of my total salary raise, so it's a substantial one. ;D
I have started training at work too. I am teaching a few classes in two weeks. A lot different from middle school science, but definitely satisfies the need to teach. I am likely going to be selected for centralized training soon too. That would mean I would be heading to DC or Maryland for 4 weeks at a time to train large groups of new employees.
Took on a few more responsibilities at work too. I am now the official "military records specialist" in our VA office. That means if a guy retires from the military, then goes back in, I have to be the liaison for the military to get access to the service medical records and personnel files we have in our possession. I also have a few more ancillary duties, but, mostly a point of contact. Still liking what I do, so that's good.
Been shooting a few times lately. Tried out a glock 21sf last week at a local indoor range. I have to have one. .45 with 13+1 and it's very very comfortable to shoot. As compared to the 1911 (compact and full size), hk 45, and others, I prefer the glock. I am still absolutely keeping my 9mm glock 19, but the .45 will be my new bedside table go-to and new range toy. On the long gun front, I am likely getting a ruger 10/22 for the range in the spring. Planning on scoping it, bull barrel, a laminate thumbhole stock, and a few other bits. No hunting in my future, but there's a free, state maintained, outdoor range about 10 mins from my place. They have 100yd, 50yd, 30yd, and 10yd ranges. Spent a good amount of time there prior to the cold weather.
10/22 like this: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b97/Spinal-Tap/Guns/Ruger/100_1196.jpg (http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b97/Spinal-Tap/Guns/Ruger/100_1196.jpg)
Got a GTI I have been fiddling with a bit too. Already chipped it, removed the cats, and a few other mods. Probably going to drop it a few inches in the spring.
Few shots of the car, right after I got it: http://s213.photobucket.com/albums/cc18/nkresho/2007%20mkV%20GTI/ (http://s213.photobucket.com/albums/cc18/nkresho/2007%20mkV%20GTI/)
I guess that's about it for me. What are you guys up to? I read a little about the new COD server you guys have been running. How's that going? I haven't played anything in so long. I don't really have the attention span for it anymore. I feel like I stare at my dual 19" screens all day long at work. I get home, change, hit the gym, make dinner, watch the news, and go to bed. I miss the old days.

Hey 'o
Nice of ya to stop in and say hello. been wondering how you were doing.
If your boss was smart he'd have you running the joint before too long. Happy to hear your in a better work enviroment than before. If you do get the raise, start saving for the kid(s) college fund. :'(
A 10/22? That was my first rifle, at like age 13 or something. Get something that shoots the 7.62 ---> .308
Ammo wont completely break ya, and you actually feel like your shooting something. I've got an old chineese sks for "plinking". Put it in a homemade walnut stock to fit an "american build" and it shoots just fine. Putting a that scope on a 10/22 is akin to - hell, I dont know what to compare it to, but its a waste of time & money. The .22 is good for shooting coke cans down by the river bank, and not much more. Open sights are more than enough. Heck, I use the iron sights on the sks.
Yeah, we thought we'd give a CoD title a try. Its fun to play, but sure took some getting used to. Its alot different in both gameplay as well as mechanics, than an EA title. "Most" of the players are not intrested in squad play. Yeah, your on the same side, but sometimes its every man for himself. The server is doing fine. There is a known problem w/ the code that is causing the servers to crash repeatedly. Quite the PITA, but ah well. They have got most the early bugs ironed out, so hopefully this will get corrected soon as well. I/we had it ranked up to 69th out of some 16,000 servers before I left for a Christmas weekend. Its dropped a fair bit since then, but it has a good base of regulars.
The car looks nice. Glad you got a good deal on a dependable ride. Dont waste your cash on trickin it out (remember college fund) If it gets you fro A to B, your doing just fine :0
Anyway, wish I had more time. Dont be a stranger. You know when and where to find us.

Sweet ride btw! You talking it to the track, or just modding around?
Stop by for a round or two sometime, some of us old school guys (Ed, Eric, myself) still play 2142.

Anyway. Nice to hear from all of you as well. Glad to see so many of you are still here enjoying yourselves.
Glad you guys are moving around trying new games too.
Butt, I am going to take your advice about the larger calibers. I think I will start out with a .308. Ammo is abundant and lots of cool range toys are available.
Thanks for the comments about the car. It's really fun to drive.
