Title: "Butt" Blaster Chili
Post by: butt on May 09, 2010, 12:49:11 PM
Ok Eric, this ones for you. You'll need to do the metric conversions on your end.

1&1/2 Lbs Ground beef
1 Large Onion 1/4" dice (2-3 cups)
Brown beef w/ onion in large pot - adding 1 tsp of both salt/pepper at start, (drain off grease)

Add

1 - 28 oz can tomato sauce
1 - 28 oz can diced tomatoes
2 - 15 oz cans dark red kidney beans
2 - 15 oz cans chili beans (pintos can be used as a substitute)
1 - 15 oz black beans
Dont drain the beans before adding.

3 Large Jalapenos 1/8" dice (leave seeds in) might start w/ 2 and see how you like it. Its alot easier to add than to remove.

3/4 of a can of the nastiest beer you can find (dont use a dark beer). Cook gets the other 1/4 can 'o beer.
2-3 Tbs of Chili powder (start w/ 2, add more if needed)
1 tsp Ground cumin (must have)

Let simmer for a few hours before serving. Is very good the next day also. Whats also good, and I learned this one as a lad, but a scoop of mac & cheese in next day leftover chili is really good when re-heated ;)

Make sure you give everyone a few beano tablets before serving.

Question for later; Do U serve this with rice?

Nope. Its a meal in itself. Dont forget the beano tablets or you'll need to open a few windows. And again, dont listen to festers rambelings... its chili . K.I.S.S. keep it simple stupid.

The only thing i'll add is to the leftovers. The first bowl is eaten "as is". But I've been known to throw a scoop of mac 'n cheese into a bowl before I nuke it. Sounds nasty, but its actually pretty good.

And fester, if you steer my thread into a cullinary ditch again, I am moving this to the admin section for me and Eric to discuss in private ;) We may need to get you a thread of your own for your 'creative' ideas.

Enjoy the grub. Hope you started out w/ 2 Jalapenos, and decided if it needed more heat before adding the third. I went straight to three, and it was right on the edge of being a bit spicy. Good luck, and better lock Boca in his room, and make him open his window. He'll need to "air out" for a while after supper.
