General Discussion / Re: removing rust from cast iron

This method I've already used - which uses common household items - to neutralize rust.

Tried it on some drill bits, and it did a good job.

General Discussion / Linux mint - cinnamon

« Last post by butt on October 05, 2025, 07:05:36 AM »

Windows 10 ending support (pc wont qualify for upgrade) so got me reading up on Linux.

Groove suggested Linux to me years ago, but I didnt have confidence in learning a new OS.

This version of Linux (Mint/Cinnamon) seems to be more user friendly to windows users.

I did get Linux installed on the 1TB ssd, but not without problems....

The install screwed up my boot loader, and was not able to 'dual boot' at start up, and it only loaded Linux (no choice of which OS I wanted to boot into..)

Took me a while inside BIOS - dicking around with boot options - to get back into windows, but Linux is no longer seen $:-\$

I have one more tutorial to watch, that may explain (hopefully) what I may have done wrong - but did the "install alongside windows" option during Linux install - so not sure where I went wrong

Anywho, I do like this version of Linux OS. And once I get this problem sorted, I have confidence I can learn the new OS.

Electronic Arts, the maker of video games like ?Madden NFL,? ?Battlefield,? and ?The Sims,? is being acquired for $52.5 billion in what could become the largest buyout ever funded by private equity firms.

Silver Lake Partners, Saudi Arabia?s sovereign wealth fund PIF, and Affinity Partners will pay EA?s stockholders $210 per share. Affinity Partners is run by President Donald Trump?s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

The deal is valued at $55 billion if AE?s debt is included, far exceeding the $32 billion price tag to take Texas utility TXU private in 2007, which had shattered records for leveraged buyouts.

PIF, which was currently the largest insider stakeholder in Electronic Arts, will be rolling over its existing 9.9% investment in the company.
