GHOST PLAYERS??

I have noticed something and it is kinda annoying. I play on our server alot and from time to time there are 308 players on the server, BUT they are doing nothing. What is going on with that? It is annoying in that I was just on the server and there are 5 people on the server. 3 of them are 308 members and not even playing. That hurts the game cause it makes it all unbalanced, unfun, and unfair. Can anyone explain why this is happening?

They are idle/AFK.  Nothing to worry about.  We do this to help generic public server traffic, to get the needed number of player needed to start a round.  If they stay long enough to get the server going, thats up to them... We've done all we can do to help.

Instead of needing 4 random pubbers to start a game, you only need 2. Try getting 4 strangers to stay on a server long enough to get it populated... Just does not happen. Simple as that.

If that sounds like fun, wait till B3 rolls around, and you'll need 8 ppl to start a match - on a 64 slot server... You'll thank us then (even if you dont understand the pratice now)

If you want to make sure to catch us ingame, we are on nightly @ 8 estn.  With school, work, ect - people dont generally have time to populate (or play for that matter) in the morning. Otherwise your welcome to go pubbing on an active server, or having a turn at populating our server. You'll see the challange in getting enough people to stay on the server - long enough to get the population great enough to have it remain full on its own.

Well I guess that is understandable, but it was becoming hurtful. I play on it all the time. That is my favorite map so Ill be there all the time. At least till BF3 comes out.

I again tried to play on our server. There were 4 ghost players. So it was 4 against 4. I had 3 ghost players and they had one, so it was 1 against 3. I understand that maybe you need them to keep it going, but too many is killing it. I saw people come in cause they saw people playing, but when they left cause they saw only a couple real people there. I left cause it is no fun 3 against 1. So I am sure eventually the others will leave cause they are bored also. If  maybe one ghost player is there, it will build up with real players. But it cant cause half the people there are ghost and who wants to play with people who are not playing. It does not make sense.

I guess you have to do what  you have to do, but if I try to play and it ends up 3 against 1, then I just cant play that way and will find another server.

You need to chill, and go find another server to play on in the mornings.

We cannot admin the servers when we are not at home. If someone got disconnected and is unable to reconnect, "thems the breaks". Go do something else untill the situation can be corrected.  Running game servers is not a unflawed science. it is hit and miss sometimes, and should not be expected otherwise. 308 members donate their time money and effort to provide a place for us to play  for our convience  - not to provide a "free service" to the unappreciatve gaming public.



I told you if you want to catch us, we are on nightly at 8 PM estn.

I am tired of this thread. You want to catch us, you know where and when.
