If life hands you lemons, ask for Tequila and salt
Well, it's been almost 5 years on the same platform, but my "comp" as Pred used to call it finally went. The PSU went out (taking my APC battery backup [go figure] and motherboard with it). Fortunately the CPU, ram, and video card were still ok, so I got a little cash for them on eBay. That's why I haven't been on (at all). Just wanted to quell that was the reason and not leaving for Beer league
So now I am saving up some $$ from eBay and shooting up for this guy:
http://gizmodo.com/5468476/asus-g73-stealth-laptop-on-sale-for-1430
as a desktop replacement.
It's my birthday this week (no cracks Eric!) so wifey loosened the typical restraints. Currently about $300 short of that amount, but have enough stuff on eBay that I am hoping to get it by the end of the week. This was my goal when I got my Dell XPS a couple years ago, except that laptop sucked b@lls and constantly overheated. Reviews on this guy (for the most part) are much better, and I can actually travel with this one for work (which is only a once a month now).
NEway, hope to see you guys on the field in about a week or so!

Sorry to hear about the compy. Life in the fast lane, i suppose. Happy to hear you might get a new "toy" for your b/d though. This one going to be 51 or 52 for you? Or have you stopped counting at this point?
Gaming on a laptop though? Seems knida hard?
Anywho. Keep us up to speed as you get things sorted.

Ah, I see you've been hanging out with Eric, you've got jokes today!
As far as playing on the laptop, it would actually be connected to a monitor, mouse, keyboard, so it would be closed most of the time. I just sold my laptop, but essentially just had it sitting in the bad 28 days out of the month when I didn't travel, so this setup makes more sense (I think it was the only way I could sell it to wifey!)

Happy B'bay, groove. I won't make jokes about your age because of that glass house theory.
