My second GA-P67A-UD4-B3 died on me the day after BS helped me with the R11 patch.  I already rma'd x1 and am not going to wait on a second.  I am looking at one of two boards and would appreciate your input.

I can afford a maximus extreme but would rather keep the money in my toy fund for another Palit 560ti 2gig GPU and a bigger SSD.  Unless someone believes the board is worth it.

I will be putting my rma'd mobo on craigslist whenever gigabyte gets around to sending me one back.  Took almost a month last time. >:( Thanks in advance for your educated opinions, I trust them a great deal more than a bunch of rants on newegg's reviews.

If you would have caught me four years ago, I was an Asus fanboy, and would have said Asus the whole way. I've built about 12 systems with Asus, and many have had issues from southbridge/USB/NIC issues and their RMA's were lengthy.
EVGA on the otherhand probly has the best tech support/RMA program I've seen, and they're VERY quick. EVGA is a fairly new company, but on a personal note I am a big fan. Asus is such a juggernaut I feel like they've gotten TOO big for decent customer support. On top of the fact that the EVGA motherboard looks pretty phat!

ASRock is actually pretty nice.  I think it's Asus's deviant child or something.  Built three computers with ASRock boards.  Not too pricey, and reliable so far.

Agree on the ASUS perspective. Was a asus snob for long time. Have gone w/ different makers on last three. Had to RMA last one (MSI) Think unless a particular series has a ton of bad reviews, it all boils down to luck of the draw. Kinda like buying a car. Its either going to be ok, or its going to be a lemon.

Since your asking, whats the point of such spendy mobos? Cant you find the features your looking for, for less cash? Seems like overkill to me.

^ I've also had good success with Biostar, they're like the Subaru WRX of the performance car world, on a budget, but good overclockers. Also agree above, any manufacturer, any board, you run the risk of a bad board. That said, I've had a large sample space of Asus boards, and they didn't hold up as well as my other Biostar and eVGA builds (altho granted, there were fewer of them).

Ok, I am making this post while installing w7 updates. Microcenter was having a sale so I pulled the trigger and bought an Asus P8P67 deluxe for $9 more than an as rock gen 4. I also went ahead and purchased the extended warranty this time. Thanks for the advice gentlemen. I really wanted the evga but am an impatient fool and wanted it tonight. Hopefully I will be back on the battlefield in a few days once everything is installed, tested, and stable.

I waited until I was able to get another ssd to reinstall bc2. I wanted to have an o/s only ssd which is my 64 gb. With w7 and bc2 on the ssd I only had 17 gb free space which left no room for bf3 when it comes out. This weekend my wife bought me an ocz vertex 3, 120gb.

My rebuild is now finished and stable with bc2 installed. Hopefully, after my sons boy scouts tonight, I will see you on the server.

Another update: Replaced mobo with a P8 Z68 Deluxe, obtained new "full retail" version of W7 home premium after some heated discussion with microsoft, and now I am back up and running (as was evident to those of you that were handing me my ass on the server Friday night (Loki, Butt, and BJ as I recall forgive me if I left any of my nemisis out as there were so many  ;))).

Unfortunately I am still experiencing weird disconnects and bsod.  I ran memtest86+ on both sticks of ram and both are bad.  So after another trip to microcenter I may finally have my bugs worked out (maybe tomorrow).  I better, the only thing I have not replaced or upgraded is the p/s and case.
