Wont be ingame much if at all, untill I get current problem resolved.

PC is shutting off randomly. No rhyme or reason. Not under load. Just shuts off. Like someone flipped the breaker. No BSOD.

Is there a windows error report I can find to help troubbleshoot?

Will go ahead and post this and edit as needed. Already lost power once while typing  ;D errgh, lol

check your power supply..
How?

Quote from: SicSS on March 22, 2012, 10:48:18 PM
does it just turn off, or do you get the BSOD?
Does it try to reboot?
Turns off. No BSOD
Yes, it reboots. After the "your computer did not shut down properly, do you want to launch in safe mode" countdown screen.

maybe try some different memory????
Going to remove one stick at a time, and see if it continues.
Not going to buy more RAM. Going to avoid the "darts at the dart board" troubble shooting this time.  By the time I'd buy different RAM, mobo, power supply, to check if they work better, I am 2/3rds the way to a new build. Not doing that.

have you added any new devices lately?
Nope.

Started about a week ago, after a GPU driver update. Tried to uninstall driver, then tried to do a system restore - neither changed the situation. Tried reformating old HD. Then tried different HD. Same deal on both. Got some good ideas from Tarsier last night. Will try those and report back as time allows.

I feel your pain bud!  I would start with power supply first or if it runs long enough see how the Temp is doing on the CPU. Hope to see you back soon man.

I see it at 1.5000 seen here:

^ Windows 7 - 64

Only have one 4G stick of ram installed right now. Checking the ram to see if I have a bad stick.

Not sure, cause I can't see the screen shots, but ddr3 is seen by most bios settings, as well as cpu-z, as 1/2 it's speed.

My ddr3 1600 is seen as 800mhz.

Butt, do you have full system specs up anywhere?  I want to do a little research on the components you're running.

board, ram, cpu, psu, etc...

Saw this looking up your power supply:  http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/292508-28-computer-rebooting-plug-pulled-voltages

Nothing major on the motherboard though.

Do you have an extra power supply you can swap?

Here's some more info:  http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f210/power-supply-information-and-selection-192217.html

Yeah, but would be a beating. Now that I think about it, I think its only a 550w, but could use it as a temp/trial psu. Going to let this stick of ram run for as long as it will. Not that it means anything, but its gone for a few hours now w/out restarting.

I like TSF.

550 will definitely be fine for your application.

I run a 550w seasonic in mine, actually.  And My 2500k is at 4500mhz 24/7, alongside 16gb (4x4) of 1600mhz ddr3 and an HD7970.  At full load i'm pulling just shy of 500w at the wall.  That's about 400w, if you figure in efficiency of 80%.

You'll be okay.

You could just plug the power supply into everything, outside your case, to test it.  It doesn't need to be mounted.

Another thing you can try before buying the supply is resetting the CMOS.
I've had mine get corrupted and cause issues in the past.
Other obvious things to check are CPU cooling block secured? Fans all spinning? including cpu and video card?
Remove a stick of ram at a time as noted earlier.
Is the Mobo bios the latest?
Check the motherboard manufacturers site to see if there are any forums or faqs that list the problem.
As far as power supply size I'd recommend the highest you can afford. It's sooo often the part that is skimped on and yet is one of the most important.
Good Luck

I would do two things: First would be to run memtest 86+ on each stick of ram.  Each stick must be tested individually using this program or test will fail.  Download free and burn to boot disc at location near bottom of link.  I posted page rather than link to download so you can read up on it first.  This is what I used to find out my GSkill memory was causing my issues.  No problems since installing 16gb Corsair Vengeance kit.

http://www.memtest.org/

Second would be to have power supply tested, if no place to have done you can get your own tester:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16899109003

If either of these do not work let us know and we can proceed onto the next thing.  Sorry to read you are going through this crap.  I know exactly how frustrating it is!!!  Hope this helps...

Tarsier suggested the cmos deal as well. Have not got there yet.

Still on the trying one stick of ram at a time. First one I tried this morning - problem continued. Seconnd stick, and PC is still happy ---> no restart yet in say 8-10 hrs. Will let it run over night and see how it goes.

did you say the problem started after a driver update?.....give me a brief description of what you did, when the problem started.

That was part of it. But have done a complete hard drive wipe and OS reinstall since then. Fresh install of driver yesterday. Think its safe to count that one out. Thanks though.
