I know this is mainly a Battlefield clan, but incase anyone would like to check out a REAL war simulator for 25% of the normal price:
https://store.bistudio.com/arma2-games
ArmA (Armed Assault) 2 is the successor to the Czech war simulator Operation Flashpoint (2001). It was released in 2009 and during the next 3 years, 3 DLCs and one stand-alone expansion came out.
- ArmA 2 (Vanilla game) takes place in a fictional country called "Chernarus" (Literally Blackrussia). You play as a USMC Force Recon soldier who helps the government units in their fight against ChDKZ (Chernarussian movement of the red star) who want to bring the country back into USSR times. The game contains 2 maps: Chernarus and a small island called Utes (Cliff in EN).
Trailer:
- ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead (Expansion pack) is set in a Afghanistan-like country called "Takistan". You play as several members of different parts of the US Army (Tank commander, Apache pilot, Infantry man, Delta Force operator). Your goal is to beat the NTA (National Takistani Army). You'll get 3 new maps: Takistan, Zargabad (city) and Desert.
Trailer:
- ArmA 2 Private Military Company (PMC) specializes on playing as a Contractor. It adds one new map, "Proving grounds". Trailer:
- ArmA 2 British Armed Forces (BAF) is themed around British Army and its' help in war in Takistan.
Trailer:
- ArmA 2 Army of Czech Republic brings units of the Czech Army and 2 smaller maps, which are basically vastly edited cut-outs from Chernarus.
What makes ArmA different from the other games is that you don't just spawn on a tiny map with boundaries but you can make your own missions or download any kind of a mission (There are even Role plays and Survivals).
The afore mentioned maps are nothing like the "maps" in Battlefield. They are regular worlds containing cities, airfield, towns, villages, forests, ponds.
